APPOINTMENTS
You may schedule appointments by calling the office during regular office hours. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. This courtesy allows us to give an appointment to another patient desiring to see Dr. Jones. We will be happy to reschedule your appointment.

If you experience sudden loss of vision or severe eye pain, please notify the receptionist when you call. This will enable our staff to assist you in being seen as soon as possible. Should an emergency arise after normal hours, please call (904) 355-2654 and the answering service will put you in touch with Dr. Jones or the physician taking his calls.

We make every effort to see our patients at their appointed time, however, emergencies often arise that require immediate attention. If you should have an emergency eye condition occur, you will receive the same immediate care.

PATIENT EDUCATION
If you are interested in learning more about cataract surgery, glaucoma, or other eye diseases, please ask the assistant to set up videotapes for you to watch in our reception area.

YOUR EXAMINATION
A new patient will receive a complete eye exam, which usually requires that your eyes be dilated. The drops used will impair your near vision or reading vision and increase your sensitivity to light. The dilation does not usually hamper driving, however some people prefer to have someone drive them home. If needed, we do provide you with a pair of disposable sunglasses. Additionally, we will evaluate you current glasses, therefore, we ask that you bring them with you to the examination.

Depending on the findings of your exam, other tests may be necessary either for diagnosis or future reference. Dr. Jones or his assistant will be happy to discuss the need for the test with you should you have any questions.

FINANCIAL SERVICES
Our office has trained personnel to assist you with your insurance questions. Dr. Jones is a Medicare participating physician who accepts Medicare assignment. Accepting assignment means that the approved charge, determined by Medicare, is our patient’s full charge for the covered services. Medicare pays 80% of the charge and the patient is responsible for the remaining 20% of the charge and any Medicare deductible, as well as any non-covered service.

Most patients have a secondary policy to Medicare. Many of these policies pay the remaining 20% of the charge.

As a service to you, our office will file for services to Medicare or your primary insurance carrier and one secondary insurance carrier. Please bring your insurance card and if applicable your secondary insurance card so our staff may file your claims accurately.

HOSPITALS
Dr. Jones has privileges at St. Vincent’s Hospital. This facility provides excellent medical equipment, personnel and service. Most of Dr. Jones’ surgeries are done on an outpatient basis, which eliminates the need for overnight hospital stay.

Dr. Jones also performs surgery at the Orange Park Surgery Center.
